Children are encouraged to bring along a healthy sandwich, fresh fruit or fruit juice.  We do not allow cake, sweets, chocolates, fizzy cool drinks or energy drinks.  Pies, Tinkies, sweet muffins and biscuits do not substitute a well balanced meal.  No glass cooldrink bottles are permitted.  We encourage parents to pack in 1 bottle of water and 1 bottle of juice/cooldrink.  Cooldrink/juice for snack time and water to drink during outside playtime.  Please do not buy cooler bags for lunch boxes as this takes up a lot of space in the school bag.

Toys

Children are strictly forbidden to bring toys to school except when requested by the teacher.  All toys brought to school will be confiscated until the end of the week.

Change of address

Please notify the school immediately of any change of address or home, office or cellphone telephone numbers.  This is extremely important, as we might need it in case of an emergency.

Financial matters

  • We encourage EFT payments as this makes tracking of payments made so much easier!
  • In the event money is sent to school it must be in a sealed envelope with the following details: Name of child, amount enclosed, what payment is for.

No money must be left in the child’s bag or plastic sleeve.

Parking

The safety of our children is paramount.  Children must therefore under no circumstances be allowed to pass around the rear of vehicles.  Care should also be taken not to scratch the parked vehicles.

Front gate

As a safety precaution, the front gate is locked at all times.

Accidents or injuries

Everything possible will be done to prevent accidents or injuries at the school, but if a child is injured at the school, the Joe Simon Pre-Primary Management Committee, Principal, Teachers and Aftercare staff, cannot be held responsible.

We will attend to small injuries like bruises and scrapes at school.  Should your child be badly injured, we will call you.

Parental involvement

Parents are expected to participate actively in school activities.  Parents may speak to the staff between 08:00 and 08:15 or between 12:45 and 13:00 when children are being dropped and fetched at school.  Should the matter of discussion be serious, then you can arrange a meeting with the teacher or Principal by contacting our office.  All discussions between parents and teachers will be treated as strictly confidential. Suggestions from parents are always welcome.  Parents are not permitted to confront children personally.  Serious matters must first be brought to the Principal’s attention.
