Pre-Primary excellence since 1980. We offer English classes for the following age groups: 3 – 4; 4 – 5 and 5 – 6.
We have qualified teachers specialising in early childhood development. We have a big garden and playground with various climbing apparatus.
We have aftercare facilities for the Joe Simon Pre-Primary learners from 06:45 – 17:30. We are also open during the school holidays and only close for the December holidays. The children get a cooked meal at aftercare during lunch time.
We have Certified Teachers with a passion for what they do and they love working with children.
At Joe Simon we believe that every child is unique and constantly learning. We aim to make each childs early education experience positive and meaningful. We know that children learn best in a welcoming, warm, secure and caring environment where they are able to experiment and have fun, take risks, learn from their experience and grow in confidence.

At Joe Simon Pre-Primary School, we offer a curriculum that covers all learning areas prescribed by the Western Cape Education Department. Our curriculum is designed to maintain a high standard of education while providing extra assessments to our students. We follow the National Curriculum Framework for 3-4 and 4-5-year-old learners, while Grade R learners follow the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS).
During the first two weeks of school we do a lot of observation and assessments with them, which is called baseline assessment. In doing so we are able to make an analysis of the current situation to identify the starting points for our programme for that specific class to determine some benchmarks for future progress and things that can be assessed…
Our Advancing Forward curriculum for 3-4-year-old learners provides a comprehensive daily routine that promotes learning, socialization, and creativity. The routine starts with arrival and free play outside and includes toilet routines, welcome and discussion rings, aprons, creative activities, snacks, music and movement, and free play outside. If you are a busy parent juggling work and family life, you understand how crucial it is to have a reliable aftercare center for your child. Finding the right aftercare center can be a challenging task, as you want to ensure that your child is in a safe and nurturing environment that offers quality care and fun activities. We also offer a wide variety of extra mural activities. This takes place during school hours, usually before 09:00 in the mornings. Learners will be fetched at the classrooms from where they will go to the hall or outside where the activity will take place.
Our extra mural teachers and coaches are paid separately into their specific bank accounts and this doesn’t go through our books. Please note that you will have a separate contract with those people and that extra mural activities are not compulsory.
